Scandinavian duo Arne & Carlos have designed a new collection of colourful Nordic-inspired projects for Rowan. The unisex patterns include accessories and sweaters sized to fit chests of 32in to 62in, and are knitted in Rowan’s cosy Norwegian Wool. A KNITWEAR designer and book artist based in London, George Cullen has created patterns for Laine and Pom Pom Quarterly. His stunning ‘Frozen Leaves’ scarf on page 43 is his first design for The Knitter, and we caught up with George to find out about his knitting and design adventures. Who inspired you to take up knitting? “It was my mum, a talented knitter who knitted for me and my brother as kids. She would knit toys and also matching jumpers for us. It was the toy knitting that got me hooked, and I raided my mum’s collection of Jean Greenhowe pattern books. DESIGNER FAYE Perriam-Reed has created a leaf-like lace stitch for this lovely hat, which is sized for little ones and older children as well as for adults. The project begins with a long-tail tubular cast-on, which Faye explains in her Masterclass on page 74, then a twisted rib brim. The main pattern combines lace with moss stitch.
