On July 10, the Wimbledon Championships concluded in London, England. It is one of the four most important international tennis tournaments, known as Grand Slams. Each year, it is held at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.
In the women’s singles final on July 9, Elena Rybakina, who was seeded (ranked) number 17, defeated number two seed Ons Jabeur, 3–6, 6–2, 6–2. One reason the matchup was significant was because neither player had ever made it to a Grand Slam final before. On top of that, Jabeur, who is from Tunisia, was the first Arab and first African woman to play in a Grand Slam final.
