For the third consecutive year, Virginia clinched the team title at the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Division 1 Championship, held in Knoxville, Tennessee, from March 15–18.
With a total of 541.5 points, Virginia dominated the other teams. Texas scored a total of 414.5 points to take second, and Stanford finished third with 333 points. Louisville, North Carolina State, Ohio State, Indiana, Tennessee, Florida, and North Carolina rounded out the top 10.
Kate Douglass led Virginia with three individual wins, touching the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley (IM), 100-yard-butterfly, and 200-yard breaststroke. In all three events, she broke the NCAA, American, and US Open records. She became the first woman ever to swim the 200-yard IM under 1:50 with a time of 1:48.37.
