From August 16 through August 27, players from the US and other countries gathered in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to compete in the Little League Baseball World Series (LLBWS). In a thrilling championship game, a team from El Segundo, California, beat Curacao, 6–5. The last time a team from California won the title was in 2011.
To qualify for the LLBWS, hundreds of teams made up of players ages 10 to 12 competed in local, state, and regional games. Eventually, 20 teams made the LLBWS, with 10 coming from the US and 10 from other countries.
