NASA, the US space agency, is inviting students in grades 6–12 to submit ideas for the 2024 TechRise Student Challenge. Winners will design, build, and conduct a flight experiment that will launch into space and gather data on Earth’s atmosphere, surface, and climate.
The goal of the challenge, NASA said, is to inspire “a deeper understanding of space exploration, Earth observation, coding, electronics, and the value of test data.” Previous student experiments, which launched in 2023, included the study of solar panels in space, asteroid dust, and the concentration of microplastics in the atmosphere.
The application deadline is October 20, 2023. Winning teams will receive $1,500, support from NASA scientists, and a spot on a high-altitude balloon or rocket-powered flight. Find out more at futureengineers.org/nasatechrise.…
