From October 2 to October 9, the 2023 Nobel Prizes were announced. They are among the world’s most prestigious awards.
The prizes were established by Alfred Nobel, a Swedish inventor, entrepreneur, scientist, and businessman. They recognize groundbreaking achievements in six categories: peace, medicine or physiology, physics, chemistry, literature, and economics.
This year, the medicine or physiology prize went to Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman, from the University of Pennsylvania, for making it possible to create vaccines against Covid-19. Pierre Agostini (US), Ferenc Krausz (Germany), and Anne L’Huillier (Sweden) won the physics prize for looking inside atoms and molecules. The chemistry prize went to US researchers Moungi G.
