From April 18 to April 20, the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) women’s gymnastics championships were held in Fort Worth, Texas. Second-seeded (ranked) Louisiana State University (LSU) won the national title for the first time in its history. LSU’s Haleigh Bryant won the all-around title.
Eight teams qualified for the championships, and four qualified for the finals: LSU, third-seeded University of California (Cal), fourth-seeded University of Florida, and fifth-seeded University of Utah. The University of Oklahoma, the top seed and the champions the past two seasons, did not advance.
The events in the competition were the beam, floor, uneven bars, and vault. In the final, LSU held an early lead after the first two rotations. After the third, however, Utah was up by .037 points.
