Formerly known as The Actors Fund, the Entertainment Community Fund (entertainmentcommunity.org) has been helping to meet the needs of the country’s performing artists—on stage and screen, as well as behind the scenes—since 1882. The charity offers services including emergency financial assistance, affordable housing, health care and insurance counseling, secondary career development, and senior care to people working in theater, film, television, radio, music, dance, opera, and circus. The Entertainment Community Fund aims to provide a safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals. In the first year of the pandemic, the fund distributed more than $19 million in direct cash assistance to over 15,000 individuals, with an additional 25,000 artists receiving other forms of assistance.
