No pale imitations of Central Europe’s grüners, Willamette’s wines “show orchard fruit, citrus, and spice, with a brined edge or mineral streak.”
2023 Illahe Estate Mount Pisgah ($25). Produced at the vineyard that gave grüner its start in Oregon, this wine combines “silky mouthfeel,” bright acidity, and flavors of peach, apricot, ginger, fresh-cut herbs, and brined citrus.
2023 Ridgecrest Estate Ribbon Ridge ($30). In this wine, “the nose of pear, chamomile, lime zest, and white pepper carry through to the palate,” while “a sturdy core of acidity elicits a salty tang.”
