BEHIND THE QUILT SIMPLE & CLASSIC “This quilt design uses a variety of classic quilt elements, which are combined to create a medallion design. The central Lone Star is echoed on the sides and in the corners of the quilt top, Flying Geese and Economy Squares make three of the borders, X blocks make another border, which makes a continuous chain and, finally, there are eight checkerboard sections created and turned on point to add interest to the final border. I have kept the palette very simple – just using grey, blue and red – but this quilt could also be made out of scraps for a totally different look.
