Uninterrupted hours to spend on our passion is something many of us hanker, but all too often everyday obligations seem to take over, leaving little or no time for what we’d really like to be doing. While for some the COVID lockdowns were difficult and disorientating, for others they provided a break from regular routines and offered that longed for space. Introduction “When I made this eight maids a-milking block, I realised that while I had grown up on a farm, I have never milked a cow! I’ve lambed sheep, milked goats and undertaken all manner of other farm tasks but never milked a cow. It is now on my bucket list (no pun intended!). This was one of the most challenging blocks for me. How to depict realistic faces of milkmaids? Well, I copped out! This lovely milkmaid has on a very fine hat, instead. I saved that challenge for Block 9 and the dancing ladies. My cow is a chestnut brown Red Devon breed.
