FEEL THE NOISE…
Whether it’s DIY-loving neighbours, yapping dogs, a buzzing fly, car alarms, loud music, revving motorbikes or your partner’s snoring – constant background noise sends stress levels soaring for 87 per cent of Brits, says a survey from eco-tech firm, Hive*. Nearly half of people agree modern life feels too loud. Professor Jamie Ward from University of Sussex said: ‘Everyday sounds do more than just annoy us, they can elevate stress levels, interrupt focus and even interfere with sleep. However, research shows natural sounds are calming, such as the slow tempo of green noise, which promotes relaxation.’ Green noise is a variation on white noise that focuses on middle frequency range, mimicking natural sounds.
