MASSIVE congrats to Australia’s Seven Consulting Opals who won gold at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup for the first time! Ranked second in the world, the Australian womens basketball team were undefeated throughout the tournament and beat Japan 88-79 in the final. The win means that Australia automatically advance to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin. Woohoo! Shout out to player Alex Fowler who was named Player of the Game, the tournament’s MVP, and was one of the tournament’s All-Star Five (which also included Opals player Steph Reid). My first memory of surfing is my Dad pushing me and my sister into tiny waves on his longboard – he made me wear a life jacket and all I wanted was to be big enough not to wear one!
