The 3mm Society celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015 and, to commemorate that milestone, had set a challenge to build a ‘50 something’ item to be on display at its 2015 AGM. ‘Portsea’ was the entry from members Paul Hopkins and John Wakeman, and satisfied the criteria, as there is 50ft of track on the layout, including fiddle yards. It’s end-to-end, with the Harbour station at one end, and the town station at the other, which provides the scenic break to the fiddle yard.
