Ryan Adams (pictured) began the year by announcing three new albums over the course of 2019. Mid-April sees the first of these, Big Colors PAX-AM , co-produced with Don Was and Beatriz Artola. Recorded at Electric Lady, Capitol Studios and Adams’ own PAX-AM set-up, it features Bob Mould, Benmont Tench, John Mayer and The Section Quartet. One song, “Manchester”, pays tribute to the city that Adams says shaped his life: “It’s at the heart of all the things I love about music, from The Smiths, Joy Division, Oasis, New Order and the Stone Roses.” The second LP in the trilogy, Wednesdays , is still awaiting a release date, though Adams has revealed a guestlist of Emmylou Harris, Jason Isbell and Benmont Tench.
