The composer and pianist Roberto Cacciapaglia was one of the more quixotic figures in the Italian underground during one of its most feverish periods, the 1970s. This was a time when progressive rock, minimalism, contemporary classical and improvisation were merging and mutating in unexpected ways, the through-line, perhaps, being an interest in just how far a concept, or set of conditions, could be pushed.
