Growing up in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Milla Coco Brown refused to miss a surf with her sisters, even if she wasn’t in the mood. “I had to go as well, just in case they caught more waves than me,” she admits. “I couldn’t let that happen!” Brown started surfing when was just two years old (while also becoming a skilled skateboarder). By her mid-teens, she was stacking up wins in under-18 events, claiming the Australian title two years running, and competing overseas. At 17, she won the inaugural Women’s Natural Selection Surf competition – “A crazy line-up of surfers and pretty gnarly waves,” she says.
