Kaloonga isn’t a real location, just a blend. A blend of impressions, of feelings, of atmospheres, all carefully combined to generate an ambience and create a three-dimensional animated picture. The kangaroos are plastic, but I can assure you that by placing my eyes at ground level, I saw them hop! The crushing light, the dusty weathering, the traces left by the violent storms on the building fronts carried me straight to the heart of Australia, a fantasy and totally imaginary Australia, but one which corresponds to everything we Europeans expect from it!
