“It had been sitting untouched since 1988 – that’s 36 years!” Reinoud Valk, a 36-year-old operational analyst from Rotterdam, isn’t your average VW enthusiast. With over 30 modified Volkswagens under his belt, spanning Beetles, Buses, Ghias, Type 3s, Golfs, Jettas and even various Audis and Auto Unions, he’s an absolute VAG petrolhead.
“It all started with a lowered Beetle I’d see on my way to university,” Reinoud recalls. “I knew I had to have one.” Surprisingly, given the breadth of his back catalogue, that was only in 2009, but he’s been hooked ever since, and this 1971 FT Bonito is his latest reveal.
