Hello and welcome to issue 116 of VWt magazine. The colder months of the year can be a tricky time to be a magazine editor in the automotive sector, as a lot of enthusiasts like to lock their pride and joy away, whether that be to protect it from mother nature whilst the temperatures plummet or as it’s a good time to rebuild, replace and refresh things ready for the coming year. Founded in Seattle in 1907 as the American Messenger Company, UPS (rebranded in 1919 following expansion) is well recognised by their Pullman Brown delivery vehicles. Starting with a Model T Ford in 1913 as their first ever form of motorised delivery (previously it was on foot or bicycle) the company now has over 119,000 delivery vehicles. Known as ‘package cars’ internally they use many different models depending on location and route geography. HIGH FIVE Hey VWt, This is my T5.1 High Top and it’s totally self-built. Bought around two years ago as a one owner panel van. At the time I owned a caravan which I sold to fund the build which is just about finished. I ended up going for a slightly different layout to the norm, this gives us a large bed downstairs for me and the wife and the extending bed in the roof gives plenty of room for my two boys. The biggest job was probably fitting air con to factory spec but I’m glad I did it.
