A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN British start-up Gridserve and electricity provider Ecotricity promises to transform the ageing electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at motorway services around the UK. LONG BEFORE THE coronavirus pandemic dealt a huge blow to the finances of countries around the world, the UK Government was facing a cashflow catastrophe. The accelerating trend for motorists to switch from petrol and diesel-powered cars to electric vehicles (EVs) is predicted to leave a £40 billion hole in tax revenues over the next couple of decades. This threat to the public purse was flagged up in the Government’s Net Zero Review: Interim Report, published in December.
