THE VOLKSWAGEN ID.3 is a fine electric car, but it isn’t perfect. Its main weaknesses are ones that, you would imagine, are relatively simple to rectify – namely, the so-so interior quality and an infotainment system that is about as cutting edge and usable as hieroglyphics.
At which point, enter the Cupra Born. It is essentially identical to the ID.3, but with a different look, a slightly sportier edge and, crucially, an altered interior. So, has Cupra – Seat’s sporty offshoot brand – stolen all of VW’s homework and beaten it to full marks?
Well there’s little to split their specs. The Born line-up mirrors the ID.3’s, offering a choice of batteries with 45kWh, 58kWh and 77kWh usable capacities, powering a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels.…
