Australians are kicking major goals in Hollywood – and, as it turns out, also in Spain. Cate Blanchett secured the coveted Donostia Lifetime Achievement Award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival last month in honour of her vast and varied work on stage and screen.
Now based in the UK with her husband, Aussie playwright Andrew Upton, and their four children, Blanchett is the ultimate chameleon of her craft. “As an Australian working abroad, I’ve had the great privilege of transcending many borders,” the actress, 55, told the audience at the awards. She continued, “And my work has taken me to central Asia, to Europe, the Americas, to China, it has taken me all over the world.”
