Our sister title Yachting Monthly is running its fourth Marine Environmental Journalism competition, the Brian Black Award, in memory of the sailor, broadcaster and environmentalist campaigner.
Submissions are invited that focus on ‘treading lightly’ in the marine environment, both in written or video form, with the judging panel including ocean racers Dee Caffari and Mike Golding, and Brian’s daughter, Sarah.
Sponsored by Coppercoat, the award offers a £2,000 prize for the best 1,800-word article with accompanying photography, and a £2,000 prize for the best video of up to 10 minutes long. Both winners and runners-up will be published in Yachting Monthly and online. A £1,000 donation will also be made to UK marine conservation charity Sea Changers.
