The cover of this month’s Interni is the result of the creativity of Atelier Bingo, the duo of French artists, designers and illustrators who have left everything and moved from Paris to the Nantes countryside, where they engage full-time in artistic research. In constant training, for ten years now Maxime Prou and Adèle Favreau are united by a way of creating that developed where their different artistic approaches met, two inclinations that gave rise to a veritable ‘Atelier Bingo method’. MILANESE, BORN IN 1953, ITALO ROTA began his career as an outsider of architecture in the years of student protest, when instead of taking part in demonstrations he preferred hiking in the mountains in search of minerals. Unlike previous technologies, AI stands out for its ability to learn and to adapt to situations for which it was not programmed. THE HISTORY OF INTERNI represents the history of Italian design. The magazine was founded at the start of the boom years, in an Italy that was being reborn amid the enthusiasm of modernity. In the 1960s, Interni observed the change and gave readers an account of it: to imagine an “absolutely modern” home. Then came the Seventies, many architects found design an expressive form that brought them closer to the art world, though in a serial mode, and Germano Celant coined the term “Radical Design”. We rarely ask ourselves where materials come from or what waste they leave in the wake of their processing. The construction and transport industries, as well as mining and metalworking, produce an unsustainable amount of waste that needs to find a new supply chain. But the problem is not so much upcycling what remains as creating a narrative that ennobles potentially controversial or worthless waste. This is the case of Stone Waste is Bliss, a project by the designer Agne Kucerenkaite with the Lithuanian natural stone company Akmenstata, which makes wall slabs that combine ceramic and stone waste through porcelain stoneware manufacturing processes, or using different types of stones without traditional adhesives.
