The City of Sails has been buzzing this last week in anticipation of the coming weekend’s SailGP event. With practice days through the week, press conferences, and team members wandering the streets of the city, eating and drinking at local hospitality venues, and shopping in local stores, there’s been a lot of excitement in town.
For the last couple of weeks, it has been impossible to miss the waterfront grandstand, which seemed to spring up to a very impressive height in a matter of days. It will afford great viewing of the racing action, which takes place right in downtown Auckland, or at least in that narrow section of harbour between the harbour bridge and the container terminal.
