When did you realize that you wanted to be a makeup artist? It was in the early ’80s. I was in a theater group in school, and we did everything ourselves, including makeup. It was a D.I.Y.-type thing, very post-punk. Then, in the ’90s, I started working with The Face and i-D magazine, where I did a story with Kate Moss, Corinne Day, and Lorraine Pascale. Eventually I started getting more magazine work, and I moved to New York in 1994. My first fashion show was Calvin Klein.
