THERE'S ALWAYS SOMETHING MAGICAL about the couture collections—an element of fantasy and opulence that makes the imagination run wild. Marco Zanini's and Hussein Chalayan's debuts, at Schiaparelli and Vionnet, respectively, brought new zest to both of those houses and to the week. But it wasn't just the looks on the runway that made an impression. Carine Roitfeld, Bazaar's global fashion director, was just coming back from an injury, and I couldn't help noticing how chic she looked in her flats and ever-so-slightly longer skirts.
