In the previous edition, we tested Lovex’s S062 and S070 propellants, imported and distributed by North West Explosive Technologies. The testing panel was impressed by the consistent results and very low Extreme Spread (ES) achieved with these propellants, as well as the groups produced in various calibres. In this edition, I look at S071 – a slow-burning, single-base, tubular propellant. Explosia, the manufacturer, lists S071 as “usable” for the 6.5 Creedmoor, .30-06 Springfield, 8x57 JS and 8x64. It is “recommended” for the .300 Win Mag and .338 Lapua Magnum – thus ostensibly suitable for the large magnums that require a slow or very slow-burning propellant.
